Junior Football Leader Award
This course provides a basic introduction to leadership skills required when involved in football. The course will primarily introduce 4 areas: Assisting Football Activity Sessions, An introduction to refereeing, helping with a Team & Different Football Events – in addition to these areas, Respect, Promoting the Game & Developing the game will be embedded during the Guided Learning Hours.
Course Aims & Objectives
To provide learners with an introduction to Leadership skills that may be used within the game and beyond. In the first instance the young leaders should be supported by more experienced qualified people within the game to support their development.

- Introduction to the Course (1 GLH)
- Course content
- How to get involved in Football
- Getting involved & helping those involved to ‘get better’
- Assisting Football Activity Sessions (2 GLH’s)
- Creating a Safe Learning environment
- Organizing games
- Introduction to the basics of Fundamentals
- An introduction to Refereeing (1 GLH)
- Preparing to referee
- Whistle techniques & and introduction to Ball In, Ball Out
- Safety of the Players and Re-starts to the Game
- Helping with a Team (1 GLH)
- Preparing for the game
- Warm-up prior to the game
- Organizing and Managing players expectations
- Different Football Events (1 GLH)
- An introduction to three different formats of competition
- Using these in a practical setting
Practical Involvement: Candidates will be encouraged to participate practically to maximize their opportunities for learning (however inability to participate will not prevent successful completion of the award).

Year 7 Boys 5 A-Side Football House Comp
Friday the 30th January 2015 saw the second five a side house comp with the year 7 boys in five a side football. Here is some of the action.
Cheerleaders sell Valentines Gifts
The cheerleaders are fundraising again and this time selling
valentines gifts! There are 50p, £1, £1.50 and £7 options. These can
be bought and taken straight away or you can attach a message and we
can deliver them for you!
50p - haribo love hearts
£1.00 - swizzels love heart sweets
£1.00 - swizzels love heart sweets and haribo love hearts
£1.50 - mini rolos tube and swizzels love heart sweets
£7.00- 600g jar of quality street, mini rolos tube, love heart sweets
and haribo love hearts. Both sets of love heart sweets individually
wrapped inside.

Year 7 Netball
We want more members for Year 7 Netball the girls have regular matches against other schools around the district, come and give it a go on Thursdays after school!

PNE Coach at Parklands
The girls in year 9 and 11 have been really lucky to have Melissa Brown from Preston Football club deliver some sessions during their PE time table.
The aim of this scheme is that more girls will get involved in football outside of school.
SPORTS HALL ATHLETICS SUCCESS
Well done to our Year 7 and 8 girls and boys who came 3rd place in the Chorley Sports Hall athletics, Some outstanding performances that we look forward to seeing again at the Athletics competition in the summer.
GIRLS FOOTBALL THROUGH TO SEMI FINAL
The U14 Girls Football team have reached the semi finals of the Lancashire Cup having beat Our Lady's Preston 4-3 in a nail biter of a game, that saw the Parklands Girls come from behind.
